Heaven and hell

۩هَلْ اَتٰكَ حَدِيْثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?

۩وُجُوْهٌ يَّوْمَئِدٍخَاشِعَةٌ

On that day (many) faces will be downcast

۩عَامِلَةٌنَّاصِبَةٌ

Toiling, weary,

۩تَصْلٰى نَارًاحَامِيَةً

Scorched by burning fire,

۩تُسْقٰى مِنْ عَيْنٍ اٰنِيَةٍ

Drinking from a boiling spring,

۩لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ اِلاَّمِنْ ضَرِيْعٍ

No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit

۩لاَّيُسْمِنُ وَلاَيُغْنِيْ مِنْ جُوْعٍ

Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger.

۩وُجُوْهٌ يَّوْمَئِدٍنَّاعِمَةٌ

In that day other faces will be calm,

۩لِّسَعْيِهَارَاضِيَةٌ

Glad for their effort past,

۩فِيْ جَنَّةٍعَالِيَةٍ

In a high Garden

۩لاَّتَسْمَعُ فِيْهَالاَغِيَةً

Where they hear no idle speech,

۩فِيْهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

Wherein is a gushing spring,

۩فِيْهَا سُرُرٌمَرْفُوْعَةٌ

Wherein are couches raised

۩وَّاَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوْعَةٌ

And goblets set at hand

۩وَّنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوْفَةٌ

And cushions ranged

۩وَّزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوْثَةٌ

And silken carpets spread.

۩اَفَلَايَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَى الْاِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

Will they not regard the camels, how they are created?

۩وَاِلَىالسَّمَآءِكَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

And the heaven, how it is raised?

۩وَاِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

And the hills, how they are set up?

۩وَاِلَى الْاَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

And the earth, how it is spread?

۩فَذَكِّرْاِنَّمَآاَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer,

۩لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

Thou art not at all a warder over them.

۩اِلَّامَنْ تَوَالّٰى وَكَفَرَ

But whoso is averse and disbelieveth,

۩فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللهُ اَلْعَذَابَ الْاَكْبَرَ

Allah will punish him with direst punishment.

۩اِنَّ اِلَيْنَآاِيَابَهُمْ

Lo! unto Us is their return

۩شُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ

And Ours their reckoning.
